FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY
I’ve always been interested in the world around me and especially the historic places I’ve been fortunate enough to live near and visit throughout my life. My photography stems from my desire to capture the unique way I view these places and things. I love to find different angles and perspectives to bring a fresh look to places and natural objects people have seen before. Please visit my Color and Black & White galleries and see the world through my lens.
WEDDINGS & PORTRAITS
While I started out primarily shooting fine art, I have begun to transition into weddings and portraits as well. I have come to find great satisfaction in being able to capture the joy, love, and unique personalities that come through. Whether it is a couple that is blissfully in love during an engagement session, a family coming together to capture a moment in their lives, the joy and celebration accompanying a wedding, or simply the innocence of a new child, quite frankly I love being able to step back and capture candid moments that really show the true beauty in life and give you memories that will last a lifetime.
HEADSHOTS, REAL ESTATE, CONSTRUCTION & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
I love helping professionals do their job and showcase the fruits of their labor better. Whether it is headshots that are on the business cards that you use to make a lasting impression to a client, or showing the wonderful house you are selling in the best light, or the before and after shots of your latest construction or landscaping project. We are all visual people and while the wrong image sends the wrong message, undoubtedly the right image can help close the deal. I would love to be able to assist you with these projects no matter how big or small.
I began studying photography over 12 years ago with formal classes and was trained in all aspects of photography using a manual SLR camera. I was also training in a traditional darkroom where I learned to process my own negatives and print my own photographs. After college I spent time working in a film processing lab where I honed my ability to color correct. I have traded the darkroom and manual SLR for a computer and a Digital SLR, which I feel allows me to capture the true image that I am after whether I am shooting a couple on their wedding day or a rusted tractor in the middle of a field.
THE MATERIALS I USE TO CREATE MY WORK
I have used, and still use, different equipment to create the image I want to portray. I use a Nikon D75 film camera and have experience in the darkroom working with 35mm film. I also use a Nikon D80 digital SLR camera, which allows me to experiment and finalize the shot that I found. Additionally, I use a Nikon SB600 & SB900 Flashes, and Nikkor and Quantaray lenses. With my photographs, I will sometimes use Adobe Photoshop to finish my images to create the final image I am after. Although some photographers do not feel that digital manipulation is true to the craft of photography, I believe that it allows me to show the image with richness and in the vivid way I envisioned it in front of me when capturing the photograph.
